Ernest Hemingway’s “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” is such a story. One of the comments I’ve heard about my creative writing is that I “need a better frame to hang the flashbacks on.” So I analyzed a story that uses flashback as a principle technique, to see what I could learn by identifying proven techniques and comparing those techniques to my own. I tend to use flashback in many if not most of my short stories to date.
